One really important thing for each of you embarking on this journey of DTS and possibly continuing on with future missions, is communicating with friends and family. Communication is a key factor in support raising and a value of this organization (YWAM value number 18 is ‘communicating with integrity’). Part of the perks of living in this day and age, is that it’s easier now more than ever before to keep people in the know with your day to day life, and blogging has now become a missionaries a best friend.
Getting Started: There are various blog hosts that are completely free for you to start blogging today! Some may be more difficult to figure out than others and the top recommened would be Weebly, Tumblr, Blogger and Wordpress. You can check out all four sites and decide which is best for you, but if this whole blog thing is totally new to you, and you may not be very tech savvy, I would recommend using Weebly as your host (the one we used for this blog!).
What do I write about before arriving at DTS? I know it may not seem like you have much info to post about now, but trust me you do. Keeping a weekly update about how much money you have rasied, is a great way to keep people in the know and how to help. What has the Lord shown you about the journey ahead? Did you have a great quiet time today and see something you never have before? Blog it, people want to know the heart in which they are investing in, and you never know who you may encourage towards Jesus.
